Solstice & Solar Eclipse Week
I’ve been talking about grounding throughout these challenging times for a few weeks now.
I wanted to take a moment to check in with you and ask how that’s going?
How are you really doing?
It’s important to check in with our friends and family-- especially right now -- because we have a big week ahead of us: Solstice Week combined with a Solar Eclipse!
It’s summer in the Northern hemisphere and winter in the Southern hemisphere.
Up North, everyone will be experiencing the longest day of the year while in the South they’ll experience their shortest.
One thing that we can learn from the rhythms of nature and this cosmic galaxy is this habitual pendulum that’s constantly swinging back and forth.
The Solstices are reminders of this for us all.
While daylight and time extend on one side of the world, nighttime and time shorten on the other.
There are always shifts happening.
Not only do we all undergo the energies of the Solstice and the Solar Eclipse, but the Sun will be moving into Cancer at the very same time.
Plus, we’ve touched on Mercury in Retrograde coming up -- well, it’s here and also in Cancer!
Finally, we have some harmonious sextile energy between Mars and Pluto that can fuel our actions with purpose.
Don’t forget that the planets have been expelling energies for weeks in preparation for the shifts that are taking place.
You’re prepared for this!
Yes, the pendulum is swinging but understanding these cosmic push and pulls can help you duck and dodge destructive energies.
Don’t let these shifts startle you!
Within the astro-community, Mercury retrogrades are always frowned upon or not necessarily considered to be the best times of the year.
This is unfortunate because retrogrades are what I would call critical cosmic energy! These times should be celebrated because they challenge our stagnant ideals.
In this case, we will be challenged when it comes to thinking and communication since we’re dealing with Mercurian energy.
To flow with retrogrades, it’s best to remember that change isn’t something that happens quickly -- usually, there are periods of “relapse” or when we must revisit things to learn our lessons.
This is precisely what a retrograde does. Mercury retrograde invites us to use new ways of thinking and communicating that might be a little bit uncomfortable for us -- or basically, new to us.
With Mercury retrograde in Cancer kicking off on Wednesday, June 17th, 2020, we can expect deep healing since we’re experiencing watery energy.
This retrograde might hit home more than others as we’re dealing with the home -- our native homes: our hearts.
It'll be time to reflect on the past and heal our most painful moments .The next three weeks can be a pivotal point in our lives, connecting you to your intuition more than you have in a while.
But don’t forget to check in with yourself and ask, “Am I being too defensive?” This is actually the shadow aspect of the crab -- protecting themselves with their hard exterior.
Mars sextile Pluto
Following the start of Mercury Retrograde in Cancer, Mars will be sextile Pluto on Thursday, June 18th, 2020.
Finally, there is some harmonious energy that we’ve really been waiting for. The past few weeks have been highly charged by warrior Mars, but Neptune transits have left us confused and not sure where to act.
This change in the cosmos will actually allow for us to make purposeful movements in the right direction.
Pluto is all about change and transformation for the highest good, for our true purpose. This combined with aggressive, initiative energy presented by Mars can propel us in the direction of our purpose much faster than we all may have ever been able to anticipate.
This is why grounding has been a theme for the past several months.
Are you really prepared for what you’ve been asking for?
Little do you know, the seeds that you’ve been planting are ready to sprout!
You have been practicing centering yourself for a while now and have everything you need to move forward with confidence.
This week brings up powerful energy -- use it to your advantage!
With the Solstice in Cancer, there is still quite a bit of watery, feminine energy at play, bringing in highly emotional vibes.
We can all marvel in the combined energies from the past and bring them up to the forefront.
Solstices take place each and every year, twice a year, but do we really pay attention to them?
If you’re in the northern hemisphere and you want to exonerate any of these lingering experiences to undergo the “ascension” that the Summer Solstice has to offer, it’s time to face them once and for all.
Many different cultures and backgrounds interpret the Summer Solstice in a variety of ways. Some believe that it’s a time of beauty, bounty, and abundance. After all of the cold months of winter, we finally can rejoice in the longer sunny days that the summer has to offer.
Collectively, spiritually, and astrologically, the Summer Solstice offers a rebirthing of the soul while the Winter Solstice offers a rejuvenation and reflection of the soul’s past experiences to prepare for its rebirth.
In the colder months, we tend to retreat and experience a lot of internal, subconscious growth reflected by the longer nights. This is typically very feminine energy that we all experience during Winter Solstice.
When the Sun comes out to play longer with Summer Solstice, we experience the “ascension” of the soul as we celebrate the return of the masculine energy that propels us into solar-powered action.
If you’re in the southern hemisphere, this will be the Winter Solstice for you. It’s a great time to go deeper and reflect on what’s been keeping you stagnant. And then to process the emotions that might have you feeling stuck.
It's a time when some of us may be highly emotional as the Sun moves into Cancer which is a water sign, but remember to feel the emotions, don’t become the emotions. It’s a good time for deep reflection on your feelings.
We’ll experience a magical Solar Eclipse on Sunday, June 21, 2020. This is the second eclipse in a series of three eclipses.
This Solar Eclipse in Cancer is an Annular Eclipse where the Moon doesn’t fully block out the Sun and it occurs a few hours after the Solstice is exact.
Because it occurs in Cancer, the energy will be focused on the emotions and may raise issues regarding nurturing, family, protection, security, and being over-sensitive.
We could also see issues surface from the past, especially from 19 years ago in June 2001 which was the last time this Eclipse occurred at this zero degree in Cancer.
And since this Eclipse is a New Moon, it can signal new beginnings. And those beginnings might center on the topics of creating better work and home life balance, shifting to something that provides more security.
