In astrology, a New Moon is traditionally a time for a new beginning or a fresh start. So, it is with this New Moon in Aquarius too on February 1st, 2022, it’s the ideal time to adopt the best of Aquarian energy and to run with it. However, there is one caveat. This New Moon – effectively a conjunction between the Sun and the Moon – is widely square to Uranus, which is the planetary ruler of Aquarius.
This configuration adds a note of caution to the typical enthusiasm of a New Moon. Here, we need to forge ahead with Aquarian objectivity, vision and humanitarian goals, but we need to reign in the more unpredictable, rash qualities that are associated with Uranus, such as rebellion, shock and a futuristic outlook.
It’s a delicate balancing act – it’s difficult to create meaningful change, as Aquarian energy would want, while avoiding upsetting the status quo or causing any shock or surprise.
Perhaps the best use of this New Moon in Aquarius is to plan radical change and get all the right ducks in a row, but to hold off on activating that plan until the astrological energies are more conducive to radical upheaval.
This New Moon in Aquarius is conjunct somber Saturn and forming a challenging square to unpredictable Uranus. Our burdens feel heavier than usual and nothing seems effective in lightening the mood. We may feel under the thumb of certain authority figures in our lives, or of responsibilities that we find burdensome. The mood is too pessimistic to make effective decisions. The best solution is to simply focus on work and serious subjects. People can feel downright irritable. This is a poor time to try to make an emotional contact with anyone. A few people among us may succumb to impulsive, abrupt, not well-thought-out actions, which they’ll later regret. Knowing that most people are fairly insensitive right now helps us avoid taking offense.
